John Adams High School is located between the historic River Park and Sunnymede neighborhoods on the east side of town across from Indiana University South Bend.
John Adams High School opened on September 30, 1940 as part of a program sponsored by the Federal Works Agency and the Public Works Administration. The school auditorium was once the only large performing stage in South Bend. It has been the site of many historical events and performers.
John Adams began offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Magnet Program in 2006. The IB program is among the most rigorous academic programs of study available to high school students.
Teams from John Adams have won 17 state Mock Trial Championships, and two national titles. John Adams has a long history of academic, fine arts and athletic successes.
Adams celebrated its 75th anniversary last school year which culminated in a spring celebration for the community.
